Help a family apply for asylum in the US

**UPDATE**
We have worked hard to help them explore a number of job options and get a vehicle which is very helpful but after a lot of looking, they have determined that the best case for them is to apply for asylum. There is significant unrest in their home country and finding employers willing to sponsor an employee is very difficult. Both of these have caused a lot of struggles for the family as well as the passing of family in Sierra Leone. Applying for asylum will help them get work permits which has been a big issue for their success here. While they have filled out the necessary paperwork, there can be some hiccups along the way and so they have found an immigration lawyer who is helping them get the paperwork in quickly and will deal with any issues that may arise during the filing. But a lawyer costs money. This is hopefully the last big ask. They need $4500 for the lawyer and after that, they should be able to gain work permits within 6 months of filing. I have adjusted the amount requested to cover the lawyer fees as well as providing some funding for them over the next few months until they are able to work.
Thank you for sharing and helping out this sweet family!
Hi, my name is Cortney and I am fundraising for my friends, a family new to the US. They moved here from Sierra Leone to find a safer place to raise their family and find better education. They are hard workers and are actively searching for work but one of the hardest things to overcome is the lack of a vehicle to get them to work. We are fundraising to help them purchase a car and also to give them a little money to help them afford the basics like rent, groceries, etc until they find work.
Having a little extra would go a long way to helping them be situated in the area and thrive.
If we reach the goal, we plan that $5000 will go toward the purchase of a reliable vehicle and the rest will provide some savings and help pay bills until they have an income. Any extra will go to helping them be situated and provide things for their children.
