Recently, Kyleigh was forced to a visitation alone in a room with a complete stranger, her birth mother, who hadn’t made a solid attempt in years to be a part of her life. She screamed in sheer panic. She was alone and afraid without a familiar face in site. Since the traumatic event Kyleighs spirit has dimmed. She now screams and cries if she loses sight of her Mommy or Daddy, which she did not do prior to the visit. Her behaviors are becoming similar to her birth mother’s first daughter who has been fighting to over come trauma she experienced as a child from being left in her birth mothers care. The emotional abuse n neglect had such an effect on her that directly after her father gained custody of her he had to seek out therapy to help her overcome this trauma. It has been going on for 9 years, and is the same story each time.
Unfortunately at just under 3 years old, Kyleigh has no legal voice of her own. Her well-being needs to be protected and the courts hardly consider the words of her parents and insist on the visitations and reunification with her birth mother, who left her behind in the hospital. This should not be a battle discarding the feelings of a little girl so that an adult can attempt to right her wrongs after years of being elsewhere. This is now a battle to protect Kyleigh and what is in the best interest of a well adjusted happy little girl.
Kyleigh’s voice needs to be heard and to do so she needs a Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) which is a person appointed by the court to investigate what solution is truly in the best interest of the child. The GAL would be provided all of the facts and details pertaining to Kyleigh and all parties involved to determine Kyleigh’s best interest. She would also need an expert psychiatrist that could speak for the mental well being of Kyleigh and her emotional stability should life be turned upside down for her. Many horrible details were left out of this story. The GAL, Psychiatrist, and Law Team are very expensive and we are asking for any help you offer to help us protect Kyleigh, the sooner the better for her. Unfortunately in just a week or so she will have to face another visitation and be further affected.
