We never imagined bringing our beautiful baby into the world would come with so many challenges, but here we are—humbled, exhausted, and asking for help.

In September 2024 I found out I was pregnant 2 days after Hurricane Helene hit Asheville, NC. We then had to scramble to find me healthcare as I am high risk. We moved to Raleigh in December 2024 as the situation in Asheville still seemed grim for safety.

Fast forward to May 2025, our little one arrived early at 36 weeks, and while we are endlessly grateful for her safe arrival, the journey has been anything but easy. I had a very traumatic delivery that resulted in an emergency C section after 48 hours of unmedicated labour. Just one week after giving birth, I was hospitalized again due to severe preeclampsia and was also diagnosed with functional seizures. It was a terrifying time that left us shaken and stretched beyond our limits—physically, emotionally, and financially.

Trevor is currently in grad school, has a job, and trying to care for us. He is working tirelessly toward a better future for our family, but it means we’re living on a very limited income. With no family nearby (our closest support system is four hours away), we’re navigating newborn life and recovery with almost no physical help.

We’re doing everything we can, but the bills are piling up, and the emotional toll is heavy. Diapers, doctor visits, medication, gas, groceries—it all adds up fast. We are hoping with these funds we can hire a doula to come a couple days/nights a week to provide us relief as well as catch up on bills/basic necessities.
