My name is Mahmoud Gamal, an Egyptian citizen currently trapped in Gaza.

I came to visit my wife’s family before the war, but the border crossing closed, and we have been stuck here ever since. My wife was pregnant at the time, and she gave birth to our baby girl here in Gaza, in the middle of war, destruction, and fear.

During this time, I also lost my mother. She had a heart condition and was trying her best to reach me. She even went to the border crossing hoping to see me or help me return… but she couldn’t. She passed away while I was here, and I couldn’t say goodbye or attend her funeral. This pain stays with me every day.

Now I am here with my wife and children, trying to survive under extremely difficult conditions. We struggle to find food, clean water, medicine, and baby milk.
