On April 17, 2025, at 4:30 AM, my husband was tragically struck by a car at the corner of Litchfield Road/McDowell while walking home from work just 1,000 feet from our front door. Thankfully, the driver remained on the scene and immediately called for emergency services.
He spent one week in the ICU in a coma, undergoing surgery to repair multiple extensive fractures in both legs while doctors closely monitored brain bleeds and the risk of stroke. Following this, he was transferred to the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) for another week and then spent two more weeks in the MedSurg trauma unit.
Despite his need for continued intensive rehabilitation, our insurance denied the doctors' request for acute rehab, forcing his discharge home on May 15, 2025. This has placed a significant strain on our finances, as he still requires substantial assistance with daily activities. We are still waiting for his short-term and long-term disability claims to process, but in the meantime, we are experiencing extreme financial distress.
If you feel led to support us, your donation no matter the amount would make a meaningful difference as we navigate this journey.
Additionally, if you know a family in need of doula support whether for birth, postpartum care, or infant sleep training your contribution can be applied toward these services, ensuring that your generosity directly helps a family in need. Please feel contact me.
Thank you for your kindness, prayers, and support during this challenging time.
