On January 18, Wazalendo rebel forces launched a violent attack on several Christian churches in Uvira, South Kivu Province, Democratic Republic of Congo. Armed with guns, machetes, and hammers, the paramilitary group looted and destroyed five churches attended by the Banyamulenge community. The aftermath left an estimated 80 family homes destroyed and forced 4,000 residents to flee south in search of safety.
Among the survivors is a father who managed to escape, but his wife and children remain stranded in a temporary refugee shelter. He is making an urgent appeal to friends and supporters to help transport his family to a safe location in East Africa. The funds will cover food and travel for their three-day journey, and any additional support will be shared with fellow refugees in the Banyamulenge community for food and clothing expenses.
On January 29, the survivor will share his story on Morning Light (www.MorningLightLive.com), though his identity and exact location will be concealed for his family's safety. Thank you for being part of this urgent rescue mission to reunite this family. He is deeply grateful for the prayers and encouragement from everyone who has learned of his story.
