Help a Faithful Family in Oaxaca Mexico Become Eternal

My son Boston is serving a two-year mission in Oaxaca, Mexico. During his service he has met a humble, faithful couple named Adalberto Sánchez Morales and Elizeth Rito Melendez. They have been attending the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for years and have a deep desire to be baptized and sealed in the temple.

However, they are facing a legal obstacle and are in need of help. In order to be baptized, they must first be legally able to marry. Elizeth left an abusive marriage many years ago. Divorce and marriage is very expensive in Mexico, specifically in their region, and the average wage is $5 USD/day. Despite years of saving and trying, they have not been able to afford it.

_____

Here is their story translated from their own words:

We are Adalberto Sánchez Morales and Elizeth Rito Melendez. About 7 years ago, Brother Juan José Ortiz and his wife invited us to attend the Church of Jesus Christ for a Children's Day activity. Since then, we have attended church every Sunday, and it has changed our lives.

The missionaries began visiting us every Saturday, and we have been learning the gospel for many years. Our greatest desire is to be baptized and one day be sealed in the temple as an eternal family.

I (Elizeth) left my previous husband 9 years ago due to abuse and very difficult circumstances. Because of our limited financial resources, getting a divorce has not been possible, even though we have tried many times.

We live in a humble town in Juchitán-Ixtepec, Oaxaca, Mexico, with very low resources. We are grateful for your love, your prayers, and any support you can offer.

Thank you and may God bless you.

-------

After much faith and prayer, they met with a local attorney who is a member of the church who is willing to process the divorce and marriage at cost so they can finally be married, baptized, and become an eternal family. This is their dream. Adalberto and Elizeth have already paid to start the process. My son Boston has gone with them to met with the attorney and has local and leadership support through the community who is helping as well. The total cost needed is $1,125 USD.

We would love to help them reach this righteous desire. Any amount, even the smallest contribution, will bring them closer to the blessings they have waited so long for.

How You Can Help

Please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser. Your kindness will help a faithful family take sacred steps toward baptism, marriage, and eternal covenants.

If we exceed our goal, any excess will go towards helping Adalberto and Elizeth travel to the temple, and then will go towards the many others who are in this same situation in Mexico who are also praying for a miracle. The more we raise, the more help we can help.

As my son Boston told them that a Go Fund Me page was being set up to help them, they cried tears of joy as they praised God!

Thank you for helping bring blessings and hope to this wonderful family!

With gratitude,
Rachel Evans
