I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of a friend who is in dire need of help after facing a long period of abuse from her ex-husband. Several years into their marriage she gave birth to their only child. He continued to abuse her and started endangering their daughter. That is when she gained the courage to call the police and was placed in a domestic violence shelter. Within a few weeks, she is now transitioning into a subsidized apartment and hoping to begin laying the foundation for a better life for her daughter and herself.

Her parents and siblings are in Pakistan and she only relocated here with her husband a few years ago because he received an opportunity to work in the U.S. During this period, his behavior got worse which eventually resulted in severe emotional and psychological abuse, but also financial abuse and eventually physical abuse. She wasn't allowed to leave their apartment, meet people or even go to the grocery store alone. She was isolated except for her recent OB/GYN visits - the same doctor's who are now helping her testify her case in court against her ex-husband.

Despite all she has been through, she is a fighter.

This is where she needs your help.

She has gone through so many hardships and faced so many setbacks. She deserves some help to get back on her feet and give her a chance at life again. She is struggling really hard currently to have a safe place to stay which she needs to fully recover from the years of abuse and neglect she has faced.

Secure funding for at least 6 months of rent until she can secure a steady job, Inshallah.

Legal fees as the child support papers are still being registered by her lawyer.

Buying essentials that were left behind because she couldn’t take them to the shelter.
