Hi, my name is Alyssa, and unfortunately, I am a domestic abuse survivor. I was the victim of a very violent attack and left to die in my home with my daughter, Adaline. I suffered 3 broken ribs, a collapsed lung, a 6-inch stab wound, and many other contusions/injuries. The only thing that kept me alive was knowing I could not leave my baby girl on this earth without me. I thought I could survive financially without making this post, but unfortunately, I suffer from severe PTSD and persistent post-concussion syndrome, which continues to cause debilitating vertigo and depression that comes and goes. Post concussion syndrome also leaves me with a condition called insufficient convergence which makes simple tasks like reading, writing and computer work extremely challenging and sometimes impossible.
After 12 months of physical therapy 3 to 4 days a week, I was slowly regaining the ability to do those simple tasks and hope to one day make a full recovery.
However, my abuser was let out on parole, found out where we relocated and attacked me in my home for a second time, but this time almost killing us both in November.
At this point, we both are in need of serious therapy and prayer. While I am not cleared yet, I am I trying to transition back into the workplace on a schedule that allows my brain to adapt while continuing to heal. I do not want to remain a victim, I want to show my daughter that we can fight, we can survive and we will live full, happy lives, just the two of us. I appreciate any support or help as this is a longer journey than I anticipated, however I have the biggest cheerleader in life in my Adaline. She is resilient and brave, but she also needs to know she doesn’t have to be so strong all the time. ❤️
