Help a Dog Groomer Restore Her Well

Donation protected
Water… It is so important in our lives. Today I stand over a sink full of dishes. Yep- our dishwasher is broken. Not a big deal because we have running water. Running water that I didn’t have to run and go get.

Quite honestly, it hasn’t always been that way in my life. I lived in bush Alaska for four years, and although we had running water, most of the village did not. Regular trips with water had to be made, and, when the village water system went down, we would have to do the same as well. Also, if you have to pack water in… you guessed it… you have to pack water out. (not fun, and yes there is an odor.)

Below is one of my native friends packing rain water in Alaska, which is one of the safest, healthiest and best ways to pack water.

This last year I read the book “Thirst” by Scott Harrison. This was an excellent book outlining how everyone should have accessible, clean water. I highly recommend you read it.

Well… this is supposed to be a fundraiser so I guess I better “get down to it.”

Many of you know I have a friend who has been having issues with her well and well pump. This person has walked through life with me now for a couple decades, and beyond as we were acquaintances in High School, but became better friends as adults.

She has a huge heart for animals and her profession is dog grooming. I would trust her with any dog as she can speak their language and calm their hearts even if they have fear during grooming. When I asked her if I could create this fundraiser, she immediately said she had prayed about it and the good Lord would provide. She didn’t want to ask for help.

Well… This was my response, “I have found in life, that if the good Lord’s people don’t have an opportunity to hear of the problem, they can’t help.”

After a bit, she decided it would be ok to ask for help but would prefer if I didn’t use her name.

Sometimes, when you are a low income household, you have to figure out things as you go along. In this case, the burden is too big. I think this might be avoidable in the future, but right now there is an immediate need.

I am including a photo here of the process they have gone through to try to personally trouble shoot the problem. They have called friends, purchased parts and eventually broke down and called a well service. The quote came in for digging the well and new pump at a minimum of $6,000. She asked me to have some anonymity with the well service provider so I whited out the name on the truck.

Can you even imagine packing water every day to be able to wash your dogs so you can continue to pay your daily bills? Can you even imagine adding 4 gallons of packed water to the washing machine just so you can do your laundry for one load?

I can’t. Even though my dishwasher is not working… I have running water, and we will be fine.

I am including one photo of a puppy my friend recently groomed.

If you can not donate to this cause, I simply ask for prayers. If you know me- every thing that goes toward this well project will be used on the well.

Go-fund-me does charge a management fee, and if you prefer not to use that service please reach out to me personally and we can arrange a different way to donate.

Thank you for considering, and most importantly, thank you for the prayers.

here are some more examples of the beautiful work she does with her dog clients.
