Help a disabled young adult escape domestic abuse
Donation protected
This fundraiser is for my best friend, "Elliot". (Not their real name, as using it might put them in more danger) Since 2017 Elliot has been suffering with domestic violence at home, and this has been especially hard to watch due to their disability which leaves them housebound.
Elliot identifies as
trans/nonbinary which is a major issue for their abusive family. They are deeply transphobic and the abuse has escalated and keeps getting worse, to the point social services are now involved and agree they are experiencing domestic violence and emotional abuse, and need to get out.
Elliot is in the process of being added to the housing register, however this will take up to 3 months for housing to be provided.
This leaves Elliot potentially having to spend the next 3 months with their abusive family, despite the fact that the abuse continues to escalate.
And so we come to you, the good people of Go Fund Me. We are fundraising for 3 months of staying at a place that can accommodate 3 people and is accessible, in order to accommodate both their personal care assistants and their wheelchair. If suitable emergency housing is found, the money will go to essentials like food, bills, medicine, furniture and decor for Elliot’s permanent new home. This way we can ensure Elliot a place where they feel comfortable, safe and at-home enough to begin to work on the trauma caused by years of abuse.
