My name is Peter. I rely on caregivers for basic daily needs: getting out of bed, using the bathroom, and accessing my wheelchair. Right now, that care has been taken away. The health authority has directed the contracted care agency not to perform any of my transfers at all. As a result, I can be left stuck in bed with no way to get up and no access to the bathroom. There is no reliable backup plan. I have been trying to resolve issues with my care, but instead of improving, the situation has become worse. I am now at risk of being left without essential support. This is not about preference or convenience. It is a complete absence of basic care. To stay safe, I am forced to pay for private caregivers to fill the gaps. Without them, I risk being left without mobility, without access to the bathroom, and without dignity.
