Hi everyone,
I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of a dear friend and community member who is currently facing eviction and in urgent need of support. Due to the personal nature of her situation, she wishes to remain anonymous — but I can say this: she is one of the most thoughtful, hardworking, and resilient people I know.
She’s a mature student who returned to college later in life after being forced to leave school the first time due to undiagnosed ADHD and Complex PTSD (CPTSD). With courage and determination, she gave up the small business she had built to return to school and train as a social service worker — hoping to use her lived experience to help others.
She lives alone and doesn’t have a partner or family to fall back on. Despite working part-time and using every available support — including the food bank and growing her own food in a container garden — she has now fallen behind on rent due to the financial strain of balancing school, disability, and underemployment.
On June 3rd, she received an N4 eviction notice. She needs to raise $3,800 to avoid losing her home.
❌ She has already tried all the major avenues for support:
She does not qualify for Ontario Works because she receives OSAP (student financial aid), even though OSAP does not cover basic living costs like rent or groceries.
She does not qualify for the Ontario Emergency Assistance benefit for the same reason.
She contacted the London Housing Stability Bank, but they are closed for the year due to lack of funds.
She has done everything she can — and now, community is her last hope.
How CPTSD is affecting her ability to cope:
Complex PTSD isn’t just emotional — it affects memory, decision-making, energy, and physical functioning. She often experiences severe symptoms, including panic, dissociation, and flashbacks, especially under chronic stress. The constant fear of eviction has pushed her nervous system into a prolonged fight-or-flight state. It's making it almost impossible to function day-to-day, let alone focus on school, secure full-time work, or access care.
Right now, she can’t afford trauma therapy. Most of her time and mental energy goes toward trying to problem-solve her housing crisis while surviving in a body and brain that rarely feels safe.
She doesn't want luxury — she just wants to stay in her home. That basic stability would allow her to move out of survival mode and refocus her energy on healing, finishing school, and securing sustainable work.
If you’re able to donate, share, or support in any way, it would mean the world. This is someone who has quietly shown up for others for years — and now it’s her turn to receive care.
With deep gratitude,
