Help A Disabled Old Lady with Her Disabled Old Car

Donation protected
I know a lot of people in America are struggling right now to make ends meet. And I'm just a person on the Internet trying to get help from other people. Helping one person doesn't change the world, but it could change the world for that one person. That's one of my favorite sayings. I try to help people when I can, and all I'm looking for is a little bit in return.

I do have one of my cars running right now, but it still needs about $2400 worth of work to keep it going. And at this point, I'm not sure it's worth dumping more money into the car. But if that's all the choice I have, that's what I'll do. I have paperwork that can prove that it still needs a lot of work. It needs back brakes and rotors. It needs a whole new exhaust system because it's rotted out. There are a couple of other things I don't remember, but something with the wheels and the tie rods or something like that. I don't remember, but it's on the paperwork. I had a whole estimate written up, but the last guy who got the car back and running cost me another $700. And that was already in the hole for $1800 for all the stuff I had to fix on it earlier in 2023.

I've been disabled for 12 years and a single mom for 19. Believe me, if it was possible for me to just go get a job, I would try to get a job. But at this point, I can barely even walk, so I don't have that luxury to just go get a job and make some money. I just would like to have a reliable car so I can get my son to and from work, or he can get himself once he gets his license. But that's another thing; he can't get his license because we can't afford to pay insurance month to month with all the extra bills we have going on right now.

And before anyone says it, yes, he does help out with bills around here because he does work. But living on what I get in disability has caused bills to pile up over the years because I used credit cards to try and keep us afloat, to buy groceries, to fix the car when it was down. Just everything was done on credit cards. And now all my credit cards are maxed out, and there's no backup now when there's not enough money to buy anything. So I'm just looking for a little help to fix the car that I have or to get something more reliable.
