Hi: I am Jeff Bevis, a quadriplegic artist confined to a wheelchair and I am asking for your help once more because you were so generous in the past in helping me become mobile with my wheel chair lift, but since then health issues happened i had a stroke and my kidneys shut down and now i am on dialysis, the stroke has left my arms legs and body strength weaker.
One of my main problems i am facing now is not being able to shower and bathe myself, my doctor recommended that i look into getting a walk-in tub.
here lies the problem walk-in tubs are costly and i am on a very tight fixed income. This tub will give me access to bathe myself like every human being has a right to do it will help me gain independence again and help me regain mobility skills.
Over the course of my life, I have faced a host of adversities and I have persevered through every challenge. At the age of two I was diagnosed with viral spinal meningitis at a time when there was few treatment options and after multiple surgeries, therapies and treatments, I accepted the fact that I would permanently remain in a wheel chair. This hasn't stifled my ambitions and when my parents gave me my first camera, a Brownie Box, I was quickly saw photography as a means to reach other people and express my creativity.
My photography, keeps me active and it is also my motivation to continue to help other disabled individuals by documenting their struggles and successes and by photographing scenes from nature that can inspire and enrich us all. Because of this desire to help others, I am also devoting my energies to a Non-Profit that helps our wounded and disabled Military Veterans. And aside from my own needs, if I can become fully mobile again I can also help them by raising money and awareness with my photography and other projects. My parents long ago instilled in me a philosophy that still fuels my attitude and aspirations today: "Commit Your Heart and Your Mind and Anything is Possible."
