Hi,

I am the youngest of 6 children, raised by a mother who struggled to escape DV. For safety reasons, I am only able to explain so much. But,

It hurts me to say, my entire family is struggling to stay alive.

We have faced decades of abuse and trauma at the hands of a man who was supposed to be a father. Instead, the time he was present, would consist of financial, physical/emotional, and academic abuse. We have all tried to make our own lives stable during trauma, most of us starting to work as young as 14, but have faced immense obstacles throughout those years. Including abduction & removal from our home&school, to free his responsibilities as a father. Our entire life we have had 0 access to proper medical help, unable to get any counselling or financial support, as well as facing stigma from our educational institutions despite awareness of our struggles.

After individually escaping our father, some out of the province, we had some easier years. but after a car accident, my moms decision to separate from my father and the inability to keep our jobs due to Covid-19/other medical related issues, we are now forced to come together to face houselessness. my mom sister and I, are being asked to leave the one stable housing option we had. We were already struggling monthly to make rent, buy groceries, or even pay for transportation for necessary appointments. But Now we are facing an immediate risk of our basic needs. Although we are constantly helping eachother out with whatever money we can generate, we are all struggling.

With no other family in the country, we are turning to our community to help support 3 women with cats to relocate to a safe area where our father cannot find our mother, a place to sleep that isn’t the floor, where we can each have a private space for once in our lives, and where we can find peace to better our mental and Physical health to find jobs again to create income.
