Oak and Lalo are two disabled trans men who have recently had to take on a significant amount of debt in order to relocate Oak from his apartment in New York to live with Lalo in Los Angeles. This was done in a matter of days under extremely short notice and in very high-pressure circumstances relating to
Oak’s family. We are currently living with Lalo’s family in Burbank which is at least a safe and secure situation, however it is very much not ideal for anyone as the home is quite small and very inaccessible (especially for Lalo as a semi-ambulatory wheelchair user). Lalo has already been attempting to relocate himself for months now and Oak is looking for work, but saving to move again is incredibly difficult with the debt of this sudden emergency move hanging over us.
The amount being asked for in this fundraiser breaks down as follows:
Total: $2,591.98
The additional debt accounts for
credit debt Oak has accrued since before the move, and we’ve rounded up to $2650 to also account for GFM fees. We’re asking for assistance with 3 months of storage as we attempt
to save for an apartment as there is not space for Oak’s belongings where we’re staying currently.
