Help a Dialysis Patient Overcome Homelessness
Donation protected
I'm 38 and have been on dialysis for 6 years. My kidney failure was caused by IgA nephropathy, no other illnesses or anything that would have caused it. About three years in, I got really bad anemia, I was going to the ER once a month for a transfusion. It seems to have kind of stabilized (it's around 9-10 now). But I’ve only gotten worse overall. I'm much weaker; I have to get a cart to lean on at the store, even if it's just one or two things I'm getting. I'm on social security and can't work anymore.
I'm now homeless and have no support system. I've had two strokes; luckily, no noticeable side effects from that, but it was scary. RLS and neuropathy have been an issue for a few years now.
My cat, Gizmo, is currently staying with a friend, and I miss him terribly.
