Help a Dialysis Patient Overcome Homelessness

I'm 39 and have been on dialysis for 7 years. My kidney failure was caused by IgA nephropathy. Unfortunately I’ve only gotten worse overall. I'm much weaker; I have been approved for assisted living but that’s going to take a couple months. I'm on social security and can't work anymore. My car has also recently broken down.

I’ve been homeless for almost a year and a half. I’m on all the waiting lists for an affordable housing; but it looks like the best path to housing is assisted living as I can’t walk more than a few feet and wouldn’t be able to upkeep an apartment. Assisted living will take pretty much all of my disability.

My cat, Gizmo, is staying with a friend, and has developed anxiety. We’re currently looking for a new home for him. I miss him terribly.
