My name is Steph and I am creating this campaign on behalf of my good friend and chosen family, Jen. AKA our care bear <3

Jen is a single mom and a community organizer in South Florida who has spent years fighting for justice + liberation, and showing up for her people. However, right now, she is in crisis. After losing her job late last year, she's done everything possible to keep her family stable (including supporting her daughter who's currently a college student and her son who is finishing his last year of high school) but her savings and benefits have run out. With rent and car payments piling up, she's at risk of losing her home.

Jen is actively applying and interviewing for jobs but they need urgent support to make it through the next 2-3 months without fearing eviction. This is our chance to show up for someone who has always shown up for others. WE keep each other safe.

Below, she shares her story in her own words:

"Hi, my name is Jennifer, and I never imagined I'd be here asking for help like this.

I’m a single mom living in South Florida, and I was laid off in December 2024. Since then, I’ve been doing everything I can to stay afloat while searching for stable work. Unfortunately, my savings have run out, my unemployment benefits have ended, and I’m now struggling to cover basic necessities, especially rent and car payments.

I’ve spent my entire life dedicated to community work, social justice, and showing up for others. Those who know me know I give my heart and energy to lifting people up and that I pay it forward every chance I get. Right now, I’m the one in need of that support.

Over the past 6 years, I’ve poured my heart into building a strong, supportive community right here in South Florida, one I’m proud to be part of. Leaving would not only uproot my son during his senior year of high school, it would also mean walking away from the relationships, trust, and impact I've worked so hard to build.

I’ve applied to countless jobs, and I’m continuing to search every day. In the meantime, I’m receiving food stamps but that is all the support that is available to me.

I’m humbly asking for help to cover rent and basic expenses for the next couple of months so I can breathe, regroup, and continue my job search without risking eviction or homelessness.

No amount is too small truly. Every bit helps, and every share of this campaign means the world to me.
