Hello, and thank you for taking a moment to read our story.
My fiancé Darren is a devoted single dad who has been raising his son alone since he was just 12 days old, after the heartbreaking loss of his mum shortly after birth. Since then, Darren has been his son’s entire world—providing love, stability, and strength every single day.
A few years ago, Darren faced a serious medical struggle and had to take out a loan just to survive. Since then, he has worked incredibly hard, budgeting carefully and going without, just to rebuild his life. He now has only £700 left to pay off.
But two days ago, everything changed.
Darren was rushed to A&E with heart failure and is now in hospital awaiting heart surgery. This has come as a complete shock.
He will now be unable to work for at least two months, possibly longer. His income will drop to statutory sick pay (£118.75 per week) and around £700 per month from Universal Credit—far from enough to cover his essential bills and support his son.
Without help, Darren will fall back into debt again, undoing years of effort and sacrifice.
We are trying to raise £4,000 to help cover his most urgent bills for the next three months, so he can focus on recovering from major heart surgery without the constant stress of financial pressure.
Darren has always done everything he can to stand on his own two feet. Asking for help is not easy—but right now, he truly needs it.
If you can donate, even a small amount, it would make a real difference. And if you’re unable to give, sharing this page could help reach someone who can.
Thank you so much for your kindness and support.
