Help a Devoted Mother Avoid Eviction and Keep Her Son Stable for High School
Hello, my name is Kristine Smith, and I’m humbly asking for your help during one of the hardest moments of my life.
I’m a 57-year-old divorced mother of two — a 14-year-old son preparing to start high school this fall, and a 25-year-old daughter who works part-time while pursuing her goals. We live in Houston, Texas, and we’re now at risk of losing our home.
Due to extended unemployment, I’ve fallen behind on rent. I currently owe $4,189.78, and legal action has begun — including attorney’s fees, court costs, and additional interest. Without your support, my family could face eviction within weeks.
I’ve spent over two decades working in Human Resources as a Director, helping others find stability and employment. I’ve always been a fighter — mentoring, leading, and giving back whenever I could. But right now, despite actively applying for jobs every day, I haven’t yet been able to secure work in this challenging Houston job market.
We’ve already downsized and stretched every dollar. But at this point, I need a community behind me. I’m not looking for handouts — I’m asking for a hand up to keep my son safe, sheltered, and focused as he begins a critical chapter of his education.
Your donation — no matter the size — will help cover:
Rent owed: $4,189.78
Legal fees/court costs: estimated $600+
Late fees & interest: accruing weekly
If you’ve ever been between jobs, worried about your family’s future, or raised kids through tough times, you know how overwhelming this can feel.
If you can’t give, please consider sharing this with someone who can.
With all my heart — thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping us hold on to home.
With gratitude,
Kristine
