Hello, dear friends and kind strangers,

I'm a devoted mother in my late 50s doing my best to care for my wonderful special needs adult son. Life has recently thrown us some unexpected challenges and I’m reaching out with humility and hope.

In January 2023, my world took a devastating turn when the company I worked for couldn’t withstand the tough economic times and, like so many others, had to close its doors. Within two months I was fortunate enough to find a contract position that gave me hope and stability. This position was supposed to carry me through July 2024 but in November 2023, the company ended my contract.

I’ve always been careful with my finances, especially after my divorce, saving diligently for retirement. Those savings kept us afloat for seven months, but now, they are depleted. Since the day I became unemployed, I’ve been relentlessly searching for a new job. Despite my best efforts, the responses I receive are often a polite “thank you, but no thanks,” (I received another one today) which has been disheartening. But I continue to push forward.

On top of all this, I then suffered a severe (second-degree) burn injury two months ago that put looking for a job on hold for the most part.

Now I find myself facing a dire situation. My savings are now depleted, my bills are behind and September mortgage is coming up. The fear of not being able to provide for my son is starting to weigh heavily on my heart. Most of my family have been incredibly supportive but they have their own lives and responsibilities. I’ve never been in such a difficult situation before, and this is incredibly hard. If you are the type who takes pride in self provision, you understand exactly what I'm talking about.

A family member suggested I create this GoFundMe after seeing how it helped my sister during her time of need. So here I am, humbly asking for help.
