Help a devoted mom reunite with her child

Hi, my name is Brittany, and I’m a single mom fighting to bring my 3-year-old daughter, Priscyla, back home where she belongs.

Recently, Priscyla’s father — who I lived with for the last four years — went through my phone, became verbally abusive, and physically attacked me, leaving me with bruises. He took my phone, wouldn’t let me contact anyone, and made me leave his father’s house with barely any notice. Before I could even gather myself, he took my daughter and refused to let me know where she was or allow me to speak with her.

There is no custody agreement in place. He is keeping her without my consent, and I’m scared for her emotional and physical safety. He has a gun in the home and has previously threatened to shoot my best friend. He also has a history of becoming aggressive and irrational when things don’t go his way. In a past relationship, he was involved in an incident where he and an accomplice broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home to take back a dog. A police report from that case states that his accomplice admitted he was willing to do anything to get the dog back — even if it involved using a gun. This pattern of behavior makes me deeply concerned for my daughter’s well-being.

I tried filing for an emergency restraining order, but it was denied due to a technicality. I spoke to a judge. I’ve consulted a lawyer. I’m doing everything the right way — but I’ve hit a wall. In order to file the necessary petitions and get legal representation to bring my daughter home safely, I need $5,000. I only have about $1,000 to my name. I start a new job in two weeks, and I’m doing everything I can to get on my feet.

If you know me, you know I love my kids with my whole heart. They are the most important part of my life, and I have never hurt them in any way. I’ve always done everything I can to care for them and keep them safe. It scares me — and breaks my heart — to have my daughter ripped away from me, confused, and begging me to come get her… and not be able to. No child deserves to be caught in the middle of this, and no mother should have to face this without support.
