Hello,

My name is PreAsia Cooper. I'm reaching out on behalf of my sister, Porshauna Stewart who is a hardworking and devoted mother who is facing an unimaginable storm.

She was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, a life-altering diagnosis, that came just as her son (born at 23 weeks) was discharged from the NICU after a 6-month stay. Her baby boy, though home from the NICU, continues to face daily medical challenges, including needing oxygen support and multiple therapies to help him grow and thrive.

This isn’t her first time walking this road. Her 12-year-old daughter is also a NICU survivor, a living testimony to her mom’s strength, devotion, and resilience. But this time, the storm is heavier. She’s doing her best to manage having an infant with medical equipment, therapy appointments, and now, grueling cancer treatments; all while trying to stay strong for her family.

Because of her diagnosis and her son’s intensive care needs, she is unable to work right now, despite her desire to do so. Her husband continues to work hard to keep things afloat, supporting her through treatments, managing responsibilities at home, and trying to make ends meet. But despite his best efforts, they are drowning a bit under the weight of it all. The cost of living, medical care, transportation to appointments, and daily necessities are quickly adding up, and it’s simply more than one income can bear.

My sister has always been a fighter. She’s the type of person who shows up for everyone else, keeps a smile on her face through the darkest days; no matter how tough life gets, and never asks for help. But this is more than any one person can carry alone, and right now, she needs us.

We are asking for help to cover basic living essentials such as: gas, electricity, water, and other necessities; so she can focus on healing and caring for her son without the added stress of losing her home or utilities.
