Help a Devoted Local Family Save Their Home

I am reaching out on behalf of a local family of 4 who is facing a heartbreaking crisis. This is a family deeply rooted in our community, and now needs our support more than ever. Without our help, they will be forced to leave the place they have called home for years. This home provides stability for their daughter with special needs and security for their family.

Why They Need Help:
Like many families, they have been having many overwhelming hardships since Covid. Loss of income and rising living costs have all made it hard to keep up with their mortgage.

The mother regularly reaches out to their mortgage company to check on rates and what they were behind on (9 months total out of 6 years and but not missed in a row). The last time the mortgage company was called was 4 months ago in January 2025. The lady that was spoken to said everything was fine as long as they kept making regular payments, which she did. Then on April 23, 2025 the family received an Intent To Foreclose letter. This shocked the family as this is not what the mother was told a few months earlier. As soon as the letter was received the mother called the mortgage company and was told that the lady she spoke to a few months earlier should have told her about the situation and set up a payment plan. The rug was pulled out from under this family as this news is devastating, especially considering it could have been stopped and did not need to become urgent.

Despite doing everything possible to stay afloat personally the mortgage company is requiring the full amount by June 30, 2025, or they will start the foreclosure process and lose their family home. The mother is working with a HUD approved councilor, but there are no guarantees that they can help.

About The Family:
  • The mother is a longtime resident of St Clair County and is known for her generosity, compassion, and support of others. She has donated to countless local charities, sponsored our kids' sports teams, and has always been there to give a helping hand, a listening ear, or simply just being there when someone to a friend to believe in them.
  • The father is disabled and unable to work due to his condition. He helps to create a home for their children by loving them unconditionally and doing what he can around the home both inside and outside.
  • Their daughter has special needs and requires structure, care, and consistency. The risk of losing her home would be devastating for her emotionally and developmentally.
  • Their son is doing the best he can to stay strong and has a positive attitude through all this. He is not showing it, but I'm sure watching his family go through this is taking a toll on him.

How You Can Help:
I am asking friends, neighbors, and kind strangers to come together and give what they can. No amount is too small. Every donation towards the $35,000 owded will go directly to stopping the foreclosure, which includes, catching up on mortgage payments, paying the interest that has accrued, and the mortgage subsidy that would have been owed at the end of the loan but is required now.

Thank you for helping keep this wonderful family in their home, and providing a stable, nurturing environment for their special needs daughter.

This is more than just a house; it is a home and a lifeline for a family that has always shown up for others. Now it is our turn to show up for this local family. Please give if you can, share this campaign with others, and help us spread the word. Let's rally together to make sure this incredible family doesn't lose everything they've worked so hard for.

With gratitude,
