NOTE: Deema’s siblings and Mother have been safely evacuated from Gaza! Her father, Hatem, remains in Gaza and is in need of support to evacuate. The fundraiser is now aimed at helping to evacuate her Father, as well as raise money to support the family’s transition to living as displaced people in Egypt. The cost of housing, food, supplies, etc. can be costly for those displaced. We hope to raise funds to support this family in their adjustment to life in Egypt. Please see below for the original story
Hello, my name is Matthew Colbert and I am facilitating this fundraiser on behalf of Deema Abu Al Jubain and her family. I am a friend of Deema's. I am located in the United States and intend to facilitate this fundraiser and ensure the funds reach Deema Abu Al Jubain, so she can assist her family. We intend to transfer the funds via a service such as Western Union to Deema, who is located in Egypt. At that time, Deema will work with an evacuation agency, such as Ya Hala, who work to safely evacuate Gazans to Egypt (at a cost). The funds will be used to ensure the safe evacuation of Deema's siblings and parents through one of these organizations.
Her family members in need of evacuation include:
Hatem Abu Al-Jabin (parent)
Sahar Abu Al-Jabin (parent)
Abdullah Abu Al-Jabin (sibling)
Adham Abu Al-Jabin (sibling)
Hala Abu Al-Jabain (sibling)
Please see a detailed message from Deema herself below:
Hello everyone, my name is Deema Abu Al Jubain, I'm a business administration university student in my final year. I am also a wife, a mother, and a daughter to wonderful parents.
I'm writing this message and taking this step after a lot of thinking and questioning if it's the right thing to do for my family, which includes my dear parents Hatem and Sahar and my siblings Abood, Adham and my youngest Hala. My parents raised us in a cozy house full of love. Their number one priority was always our happiness, no matter the cost. I got married in 2022 and started my own family, continuing my family's traditions of love and laughter in our daily lives. My beautiful siblings were extremely happy when I had my son Khaled in August. Sadly, the situation in Gaza has changed incredibly fast. They weren't able to spend enough time with him since we were displaced to different areas. They'd visit sometimes, but it broke my heart to see him grow up without them seeing him, playing with him, or enjoying our new family member together.
My brother Abood was supposed to finish his high school this year and start college. we were very excited about this new chapter in our lives. Adham, who is in 7th grade, usually tries to console me and tell me it'll be okay and how much he misses our family and I desperately want to hug him and tell him it will be okay but I can't...
Hala, my only and dearest sister, is in 4th grade, she often talks about our home, her toys and friends, etc. and I have no words to describe the sadness in her voice but she's the cutest most optimistic child ever, so she'll turn the conversation about something she discovered lately.
My parents deserve the world, especially for everything they're going through these days and how much they're holding up trying to be strong for us, but I can see everything in their eyes. The house my father worked his entire life to prepare it and make it suitable for us.
After a lot of consideration, for the sake of our baby's health, my husband, my son, my in laws, and myself were able to evacuate Gaza and go to Egypt in order seek safety until war finishes. While we safely evacuated to Egypt, things seem to continue to take a hard path and the future is blurrier and scarier than ever. I'm terrified I could lose my family at any time, which is why I have decided to set this campaign for them. I can't risk losing them, and I can't live with the fact that I might not see them.
Any contribution to secure the safety of my beloved family is appreciated beyond words.
Thank you,
Deema Abu Al Jubain
