Eric (aka The Battleship) suffered a potentially life ending MAJOR heart attack near the end of July. Fortunately, his girlfriend Meg performed CPR for over 10 minutes until EMS arrived (while suffering from a torn rotator cuff herself). EMTs continued CPR for 30 minutes and used the AED machine 6 times to get him stable enough to get him to the nearest hospital. There, they found a large clot in his 'widowmaker' artery, because as it turns out he is part of a small group of the population that doesn't respond to the blood thinners he was given just 2 weeks before. The hospital in Austin put in three more stints over the next two and a half days. The biggest issue since discharge is the recovery process- 30 minutes of big, strong EMTs and 10 minutes of Meg pounding on his chest has left him incredibly sore and bruised. Breathing, driving, and of course working have been difficult or out of the question since his release from the hospital. Therefore, the bills are adding up.
So... Eric needs financial help to aide in his recovery so he won't try to go back to work too soon and do more damage to his body. This request is sent with a great sense of urgency because he is worried about how he will get through this time- and we all know he'll get back out there too soon if he doesn't have some sense of a safety net. He does has a temporary roof over his head with Meg, but still has bills piling up in the interim.
Please, donate if you can and definitely share this link with his community when you get a moment. Cliche as it is, every little bit helps, and is more than he had yesterday. In return, Meg promises to do her best to keep him alive for at least 49 more years ;)
