For the past several years, I’ve done what I love most: teach. I’ve shown up for my students every day, committed to their learning and well-being, even as the education system around me has become increasingly unstable. Unfortunately, over the last three years, I’ve been laid off from three different school districts due to budget cuts and staffing reductions. Despite consistently finding new teaching positions and continuing to work hard, these repeated layoffs have left me unemployed and financially overwhelmed. I am now facing foreclosure on my home.

I have been actively applying for teaching positions and other work, cutting every possible expense, and doing everything I can to regain stability. Still, the timing and impact of these layoffs have made it impossible to keep up with my mortgage while unemployed. I am asking for help to cover immediate housing costs so I can stop the foreclosure process, keep a stable place to live, and buy time to secure my next teaching position.

As a teacher, asking for help is incredibly difficult. I’m used to being the one who gives—to my students, my schools, and my community.
