Help a Dedicated Public Servant in Need

I worked in the personnel office for the US Public Health Service’s Commissioned Corps since September 2nd, 1986. I was planning to retire when I reached 67, because of how leaving earlier would affect my retirement payments. Unfortunately, DOGE happened, and even though our officers are not affected, the lack of knowledge among those making decisions allowed them to gut the personnel office that’s supposed to take care of them. I gave them 38 years, 10 months of my life, and I got dumped on my butt by a bunch of 20-somethings who didn’t even understand what our office did. Those who are still there are desperately trying to keep going with 90% of the institutional knowledge gone.

I have retirement paperwork in the works, but due to the number of people leaving because of the cuts to HHS, I have no idea how long it will take them to process the paperwork. I was trying to cut down my bills, but I went from a $2000+ paycheck every two weeks to $80.00 for the last one I’ll get on Friday.

Obviously that’s not going to pay the bills, so I need help. I know everybody is hurting right now, but if you can afford to chip in even a little, I would really appreciate it. I can even try to pay you back when the checks start coming - whenever that will be…
