Simone is a 24 year old adopted activist who has become a victim of the ever changing laws. The Big Beautiful act has become highly impactful to her lifestyle, robbing her of opportunities put in place to help those like her in need. After loosing her first child she was blessed with a second babygirl, only to be fired after they found out she was with child. For the last two weeks she has homeless after her building was bought for the third time this year. She was forced to move with a two week old and search for a new home. Help her transition easily while she experiences this crisis.
As a 24-year-old Black female activist facing an unexpectedly challenging situation, I've been blessed with the opportunity to become a mother for the second time, with my rainbow baby due on June 11th. However, I'm facing an urgent housing crisis, as I must move out of my current residence by June 30th, just two weeks after giving birth, despite having paid June's rent. This predicament is compounded by my unemployment since being unjustly fired in October for being pregnant, a legal battle I cannot afford to pursue. The stress of finding housing amidst a crisis with a newborn has taken a toll on my well-being, impacting my sleep, appetite, and overall positivity. Therefore, I am reaching out to the community for support in easing this burden through fundraising to cover moving expenses like a U-Haul, a short-term storage unit, and application fees, with any additional funds going towards essential baby items, as my planned baby shower has been canceled. This time is particularly critical for me, given the devastating loss of my first daughter in November 2023 due to extreme stress and illness that severely compromised my immune system and continues to affect my health. Any resources, especially regarding housing, would be deeply appreciated. My early life was marked by instability as a ward of the state from the age of four, coming from a family fractured by my mother's struggle with addiction. I navigated foster care until ten, followed by adoption that ended after six years, and then being rehomed with a relative. By eighteen, I experienced homelessness, working and sleeping in my manager's car or on trains and couches. The pandemic further exacerbated my situation, leaving me jobless and homeless. The subsequent tragedy of George Floyd ignited my activism, leading me to dedicate the past five years to serving my community, which has become a vital source of support and belonging, filling the void of family I long experienced. I've finally found a sense of home within this community, and now I seek assistance to truly establish it for myself and my newborn. - Simone
