We are raising funds on behalf of a Congolese refugee family who is in dire need of housing, food, education, and medical care.

The family has recently escaped the Democratic Republic of Congo and are now seeking asylum in a neighboring country.

The funds will be distributed to Nakakande (19 years old) who lost both of her parents and is now the sole caretaker of her younger siblings and elderly grandmother. One of her siblings, Patrick, has sickle cell anemia and her grandmother has cancer. Both need treatment.

Edit: Patrick has died on August 25th, 2025 due to systematic medical neglect, racism, and ableism. Please read the update and help Nakakande bury her brother.

Funds will go towards:

1. Applying for asylum

2. Securing land and stable housing

3. Enrolling the children into school

4. Food, clothing, shoes

5. Medical care
