Help a College Student Replace Her Totaled Prius

For those you that know me, you know I know truly only ask for help when needed and for those of you that don’t know me, I’m responsible and hard working.

I’ve held down the same job for 4 years and am now in a position where I don’t have a reliable way to get there. This job is really important to me because it allows me the ability to pay my own rent and living costs. I enjoy what I do and would like to continue doing it so from the bottom of my heart thank you to any and all who are willing to help.

I would like to preface this by saying that you should always carry a penny in your shoe!

I was on my way to a music festival in Northern California, excited to listen to some music and enjoy the redwoods, when disaster struck. I was two hours in and 1.3 miles away from my destination when, as I took a turn and tried to brake, my brakes gave way while on some gravel and dirt. (I knew the brakes were due for a change soon, but I never thought that they would do me dirty like this). I was almost fully turned when off the cliff I went, somersaulting off the precipice and down 50 feet. Lowkey, the movies are accurate when they show the shattered glass moving in slow motion. Thankfully, I landed tires down, so I was able to climb over the glass, grab the essentials, and climb out of the pit, which was covered in poison oak. Since there was no cell reception, I left my car and walked the 1.3 miles to the music festival. During the walk, I felt something poking me in my right shoe but thought it was just a rock that landed there. But after I arrived with my friends and went to take off my shoes, I found that it wasn't a rock. A penny fell out of my shoe!

I came out of the wreck unscathed thanks to that penny, but sadly, my trusty blue Prius took a hit and is totaled. I am raising money to help pay for a car so that I can get to work and bring it with me to school in a couple of months.
