Once upon a time, a group of friends got together under the banner of the Richland Players theatre company and produced a radio show adaptation of the classic stage drama "R.U.R. (Rossum's Universal Robots)." Little did they know that it would be the start of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for them.
Several months later, they were offered the opportunity to perform R.U.R. literally on the world stage - as a part of the World Science Fiction Convention in Seattle. They were thrilled and immediately accepted.
Now they find the time for the convention (starting next week) approaching rapidly. Unfortunately, this means paying for transportation to Seattle and paying for food and lodging - in a city that thrives on tourism in the heart of tourist season. The director and writer of the radio adaptation, J. Spyder Isaacson, and his wife Ms. Kate D. Clark-Isaacson, have out of the goodness of their hearts (and a steadfast love of theatre) provided the financial backing for the rest of the cast (some of whom are disabled, unemployed, or underemployed) to find their way to the convention.
Unfortunately, efforts to assist them in this effort have not been successful, and they are now feeling the financial squeeze.
The group is committed to performing at the convention, and now needs your help to get them there.
