Help an Army Chaplain’s Family Rebuild After Clarksville Flood Disaster
Hi, my name is J B Faignant , and I’m writing this on behalf of my best friend, Chaplain Jason Hohnberger, a faithful husband, father, Soldier—and one of the most selfless men I know. He and his family have a need that they cannot meet without your help.
Jason has spent more than 20 years serving others. First as an enlisted Soldier, then as a Chaplain in the U.S. Army, he’s been there for troops in war zones, barracks, hospitals, and funerals. He’s comforted families, prayed with the brokenhearted, and stood in the gap for those carrying heavy burdens.
Now, it’s his family that needs someone to stand in the gap.
In early April, record-setting rainfall devastated Clarksville, Tennessee, especially the Farmington subdivision. Due to saturated ground and aging stormwater infrastructure, injection wells failed and storm basins overflowed, unleashing over 250,000 gallons of water per minute into their community. The flood surged through their home—destroying floors, walls, appliances, furniture, and the life they built.
Their home sits on a hill. It’s not in a FEMA flood zone. They weren’t required—or even advised—to carry flood insurance. And now, despite being loyal USAA members, their insurance has denied their claim, citing “uncovered flood event.” FEMA may offer limited help, but it won’t come close to covering what was lost.
Jason, his wife, their three kids, their Labrador Gus, and their kitten Hazel are displaced. They’ve lost so much—but not their faith.
Jason continues to serve. as the Command Chaplain for a major Army unit at Fort Knox, doing his duty and providing for his family while they try to figure out what’s next.
I’m asking you to help this family rebuild. They need $100,000 to:
• Repair and restore their home
• Replace essential belongings
• Pay for temporary housing
• Bridge the gap left by denied insurance and slow-moving and uncertain federal assistance
If you’ve ever been helped by a chaplain, if you believe in supporting military families, or if you’ve been spared a disaster and want to bless someone who hasn’t—this is your moment.
Please give what you can. Please share their story. Please pray for their family.
Let’s show this Chaplain that while he’s been serving others his whole life—he’s not alone now. Please come along side him and his family and minister to them. This will enable them to continue their ministry.
With gratitude,
J B Faignant
