Hi, my name is Geeta, and I am fundraising for my best friend of 31 years. She has been like family to me for most of my life, and I am reaching out for help during one of the most challenging times she has ever faced.
Due to the sensitive nature of her medical condition and family circumstances, I have chosen not to publicly share her identity. This is to protect her privacy and dignity during an incredibly difficult time. For anyone wishing to verify the legitimacy of this fundraiser, supporting documentation relating to her surgery, recovery needs, and associated costs is available upon request.
My friend is 42 years old and a devoted single mum to her 24 year old son who lives with Cerebral Palsy(imp) and Epilepsy. For more than two decades she has dedicated her life to caring for him, and due to his care requirements she has been unable to work for the past 11 years.
On 26 June, she will undergo major open surgery in Auckland involving both gynaecological and colorectal specialists. Multiple organs have been affected, and years of severe scarring and adhesions have made this a complex and high risk procedure involving bowel surgery.
Although her hospital stay is expected to be only 2 to 4 days, her recovery will take much longer. She cannot safely return home after discharge due to stairs, bathroom access challenges, and the lack of support available to help care for her during recovery.
After exploring all available options, the safest solution is for her to stay in a post surgical recovery facility where she can receive the care and support she needs while healing. Unfortunately, the cost of her recovery care and associated expenses is estimated to be around $16,000, which is beyond her financial means.
Anyone who knows her knows she is kind, selfless, and always puts others first. She has spent years caring for her son and asking for very little in return. Now she needs our help.
The funds raised will go directly towards her post surgical accommodation, recovery care, and related expenses, allowing her to focus on healing and returning home safely.
Any donation, no matter the amount, would be greatly appreciated. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean the world to us.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support.
