Help a Caring Mom and Her Brave Son, Matthew

Hi, I’m the mom of an amazing son who has been dealt a rough patch for far too long. Matthew is autistic and has suffered with headaches for years. A little over 4 years ago, we learned he had Chiari Malformation. He’s terrified because he had surgery, and during that, the skull clamp slipped and cut his head, scarring him permanently on both sides of his head. He then began to leak brain fluid and required another surgery. He spiked a fever with an infection and came close to dying. He has been in physical therapy for 3 years and continues to have headaches, weakness, and becomes lightheaded daily. His recent MRI shows an Arachnoid Cyst on his brain. Because of the symptoms he has and the size, he will be facing another surgery. I am his caregiver, and Matthew helps as he can with my very small home daycare. We are struggling to get by, and with an upcoming surgery, he will need my full attention. We are asking for help to cover upcoming rent and personal bills that are due. Matthew’s birthday is in a few weeks. He’s very afraid and anxious, and I want him to have a night to forget about things. He wants to stay the night at the Suncoast, watch a movie in the theatre, and have a good dinner - his birthday wish.
