Help a caregiver through an unimaginable tragedy

Our children’s loving caregiver, D, shockingly and tragically lost her mother last week in a way that is many of our worst nightmares - worrying when she didn't answer her phone, running over to check on her and finding she had inexplicably passed away at home. The funeral is this Sunday and she needs help. The two were a dynamic duo, the center of each other’s worlds, having come to this country from Trinidad together. Choosing to stay in Brooklyn, so far away from the rest of their family, both D and her mother worked as caregivers and generously provided for loved ones back home. Due to Covid, Trinidad is on lockdown - no flights are allowed in or out. It is heartbreaking that D is mourning this immense loss without the physical comfort of being with family, while also taking on the financial stress of unexpected funeral expenses. I’m asking because she is not able to... and because the caregivers in our lives and communities sometimes need to be cared for in return.
