Help a Caregiver Share Life-Changing Books

Donation protected

I’m a “helper”. If you’ve known me for a while you saw me act as primary caregiver for both of my parents in their final months. More recently you saw me act as primary caregiver for my friend Phil in his final months.

Maybe I did free or cheap work on your trees or fixed a machine of some kind for you. Maybe I gave you starter plants or fruit or vegetables from my garden or orchard. You’ve surely seen me rescue a dog or a cat (Or a possum or a fawn. True story!).

If somebody needs help, I help. Like many helpers, I find it difficult to ask for help. But this is something that will extend my ability to help others so I’m going to suck it up and ask.

I’ve been quietly working on two books for some time. They still need a little work but they’re good. The first is about how I recovered from back-to-back brain injuries and how the things that I learned can be used by others to overcome the anxiety, depression, insomnia and “brain fog” like I suffered after a concussion and stroke. The second is a workbook guiding readers to adopt the habits that have changed my life and outlook. I really think they can help improve peoples’ lives.

These are the first two of eleven books in a series. The subsequent books will offer the same techniques specific to segments of the population: women, people in relationship, men and children.

The first is a good enough book that the rough manuscript got a modest publishing offer from a small subsidiary of a big publishing house. I was mulling accepting the very modest offer when I had a really horrific accident on May 6.

The accident was very painful and physically debilitating. I had 17 bone fractures in 16 bones and an injury to my left lung. It was also extremely traumatic. I was pinned under my truck for 30 minutes, barely able to breathe, feeling quite certain that I would die. This event has had long lasting effects that I’m still feeling months later.

I was unable to work at all for 8 weeks. The publisher, fearing that I wouldn’t be able to finish the book in time for release during the holidays, retracted their offer. They left the possibility of future support on the table but not this year.

I’ve decided to publish it myself. I’ve done a ton of research and have a solid business plan and bare-bones budget for the first year. I absolutely can finish the writing in time for release on Amazon and B. Dalton in paperback and e-book formats for the busy holiday season.

My inability to work and medical bills ran my cash reserves extremely low after the accident. I’m back at work and doing fine paying bills and such. What I lack is cash for the professional cover design, editing, formatting, search engine optimization, advertising, etc. necessary to get the books into the hands of people who will benefit from them.

The money I’m asking for in my campaign is enough to pay all of those costs for 6 months and will see the first six books released and in the hands of people who need them.

Please help me help others!
