My name is Lynn, and I am reaching out with a humbled heart.

Since 2020, when my beloved sister passed away from COVID-19, I have been the full-time caregiver for my elderly mother, who suffers from dementia. Caring for her has been a blessing, but it has also meant putting my own work and income on hold.

On top of this, I have faced the unimaginable pain of burying four of my sons—the most recent loss happening just recently. No parent should have to endure this once, let alone four times. The weight of these losses, combined with the responsibilities of caregiving, has taken a tremendous emotional and financial toll.

Throughout my life, my home has always been open to others. Friends, family, and loved ones have come to me when they needed a hot meal, a place to sleep, a listening ear, or guidance. I have been a mentor, a social worker, and a supporter to many in my community. Even the North Richmond Fire Department calls me the “Mother Teresa of North Richmond,” because of my heart for serving and helping others.

But today, I find myself in need of help. My home is in serious need of repairs that I can no longer afford. Between caring for my mother, supporting my children, and giving all that I could to others, my resources have been completely depleted.

I am humbly asking for your kindness and support in helping me restore my home so it can remain a safe and stable place for my family-and so I can continue to be a source of strength for my community.
