Hi, my name is Zahra. After spending three months teaching English in Vietnam, my journey led me to Cambodia, where I met Ra Pheng, a tuk-tuk driver who works tirelessly day and night to support his family. In Cambodia, job disparity is stark — the supply of labor far exceeds the demand, and honest work rarely pays enough to survive.
After multiple rides with him, Ra Pheng opened up and share his heart-melting story. He told me how he lost one of his sons, had to give up his house and car to the bank, and move into a smaller place. Yet through it all, he remained kind, hopeful, and generous.
He told me about his two sons who are fortunate enough to attend school — but lack the basic tools we often take for granted. Recently he reached out to ask if I had an old laptop his 13 year old son could use for school.
I didn’t — but I do have the ability to reach out and ask others to help
That’s why I’ve created this GoFundMe: to raise money to get his son a reliable laptop for school and contribute to other education-related costs that could help lift the family out of the cycle of financial struggle. Education is everything — especially for families trying to rebuild. I’ve seen first-hand how important it is to give kids a chance to learn and grow.
Even a seemingly small donation could go a long way, as the value of our currency is significantly greater.
Thank you for reading, and thank you for caring.
If you have an old working laptop or phone and would like to donate it, please reach out and I will arrange it to be sent.
