Help a cadet stay enlisted
On July 3rd, 2017 Othellis Lee Roper III started his lifelong dream and college career at the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point: his dream started in high school as he joined JROTC. Othellis loved every minute from surviving beast, to taking classes, to meeting new friends and becoming involved in the Cadet Chapel playing the hand bells and being an usher. This incredible young man from Joplin, Missouri was definitely living his dream entering his second year until November 15th, 2018 when Othellis’s world took a spin and he was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. On December 21st, 2018 he was put on medical leave from USMA and sent home as the Medical board would start to review his case. He is on the final step of the appeal and soon will be traveling 2200 miles round trip to Arlington, VA where he will have his case reviewed and request a formal change in the official decision.
Please consider assisting this fine Cadet by easing the financial strain and stress of his appeal. There is a chance that portions of the trip will be reimbursed by the Army and if that occurs Othellis will donate this plus any unused funds to the West Point Cadet Chapel.
Thank you
