Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,
As we enter the blessed month of Ramadan, a time of mercy, forgiveness, and multiplied rewards, we are reminded that this is the month in which hearts soften, duʿāʾ is answered, and charity carries immense weight with Allah.
Today, we ask you to remember our brother Adil Noor (also known as Gurinderpal Singh Sidhu) during these sacred days.
Adil’s journey has been one of courage and sacrifice. Born in India and raised in Sikhism, he came to Canada seeking a better future. After deep reflection, he embraced Islam. This beautiful step toward faith came with a heavy price. He experienced rejection from his family, isolation, and the loss of the emotional and financial support many of us depend on.
Over time, the weight of trauma and loneliness severely affected his mental health. His condition has worsened to the point where he is currently unable to work. Although he was previously supported through short-term disability benefits, those benefits were suspended when he was told to return to work, despite his doctors confirming that he is not well enough to do so.
Now, in the month of Ramadan, while many of us gather with family for ifṭār and prepare for tarāwīḥ, our brother is struggling to afford rent and food. The fear of losing his home and not being able to meet basic needs is deepening his suffering.
Ramadan is the month of generosity.
The Prophet ﷺ was described as:
“The Messenger of Allah was the most generous of people, and he was most generous in Ramadan.”
(Bukhari and Muslim)
And he ﷺ also said:
“Whoever relieves a believer of distress in this world, Allah will relieve him of distress on the Day of Judgment.”
(Muslim)
This is an opportunity for sadaqah, for zakat, and for earning multiplied reward in a month where good deeds are increased beyond measure.
Allah says in the Qur’an:
“The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed of grain that grows seven ears; in every ear is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies for whom He wills.”
(Qur’an 2:261)
Your zakat and charity can:
• Help cover Adil’s rent
• Provide food during Ramadan
• Give him stability while he continues treatment
• Ease the burden crushing his mental health
For someone without family support, your help becomes his lifeline.
This Ramadan, as you calculate your zakat and seek ways to purify your wealth, consider supporting a revert brother who sacrificed everything for his faith. Your contribution is not just financial support. It is dignity. It is protection. It is mercy.
Even a small donation, given sincerely in this blessed month, may weigh heavily on your scale of good deeds.
If you are unable to donate, please share this message and remember Adil in your duʿāʾ during these powerful nights.
May Allah accept your fasting, your prayers, your charity, and your compassion. May He place barakah in your wealth and grant ease to all those in hardship.
Jazakum Allahu Khayran for standing with your brother this Ramadan.
