Hope for Brody's Cure
Donation protected
3 years ago my younger brother Brody was diagnosed with testicular cancer. They removed that testicle and he went through about 3 months of chemo. We were ecstatic when he got a clean bill of health, we thought we had put that all behind us and could forget about that dark time in our lives. Cue to about 2 months ago, he came and told me he found a lump in his other testicle. As with the first time, they removed that testicle, leaving him to take testosterone the rest of his life. We thought, ok, we can get through this....again. The doctors were surprised that it came back because he had never seen that before so they decided to do a CAT scan to see if it had spread anywhere. It did, they found lumps on his liver and lungs. He now has to do chemo 5 times a week for 8 hours a day in Effingham, he will do one week on, two weeks off, then another week on. After that, he will go to St. Louis to have stem cell transplants done so he can have the strongest harshest form of chemo there is. He will have to stay in St. Louis for approximately 8 weeks. During that time, my mom will have to leave her job to stay there and care for him. We are asking for donations to help with the gas to get to and from Effingham or a hotel to stay in if he is not up for traveling back and forth everyday. After that, donations will be used for food and gas for St. Louis. If there are any donations left after all treatments, we plan to pay it forward to another family in need. Thank you for helping us out in our time of need. Brittany Andrews, Liz Bare, Brody Xanders
