My name is Mohamed Abuzayed, and I live in London, Ontario, Canada. I am fundraising for my cousin, Maha Mhanna, a 43-year-old single mother trapped in the Gaza Strip with her two deaf daughters, Yara (20) and Yumna (16).
Their home was partially destroyed during the war, and they have been displaced more than seven times. They are now living in unsafe and unstable conditions without access to proper medical care, education, or rehabilitation. They urgently need to escape and relocate to Egypt to survive, recover, and rebuild their lives.
Maha is a devoted single mother who has spent her entire life caring for her daughters; she is their only support and protection. For over two and a half years, they have lived through bombing, destruction, hunger, and constant fear. Their home was damaged and is no longer safe. They have fled repeatedly, carrying only essential belongings, searching for safety.
Yara and Yumna face even greater danger, because their hearing aids have become damaged and unusable due to war conditions and lack of maintenance. They also suffer from severe psychological trauma due to war, displacement, fear, and loss. They urgently need medical care, rehabilitation, psychotherapy, and access to special education. Egypt is their only realistic chance for safety and recovery.
Their situation is urgent and life-threatening. Every day they remain in Gaza puts their physical and psychological health at further risk. Your support can help them reach safety and rebuild their future.
Here is exactly how the funds will be used:
Evacuation and Travel
• Border crossing fees
• Safe exit coordination
• Transportation from Gaza to Egypt
Housing and Basic Needs
• Temporary housing in Egypt
• Food and basic living expenses
• Clothing and essential supplies
Medical and Rehabilitation Care
• New hearing aids
• Audiology assessment and programming
• Speech therapy
• Rehabilitation services
• Psychological therapy for trauma recovery
Education
• Special education programs
• Educational supplies and support
How the money will be sent to Maha Mhanna (beneficiary):
Maha’s father (my uncle), Ahmed Abuzayed, currently lives in Egypt, which provides a safe and reliable way to transfer the donated funds. Due to the severe restrictions and risks associated with sending money directly into Gaza, the funds will be securely sent to her father in Egypt, who will then ensure they are delivered to Maha through trusted and established channels. This approach helps protect the funds and ensures they are used safely and directly for Maha and her daughters’ evacuation, medical care, housing, and essential needs.
