Help a Brave Mom Beat Cancer & Debt

Donation protected
My mom, Lisa, is my hero. She’s strong, kind, and has always put others first, but now she’s facing the fight of her life: a form of non-small cell lung cancer and a brain tumor.

I’m Kara, her daughter, and I’m raising funds to help support her through this battle.

Right now, my family is in a financial crisis. My dad and I are working as hard as we can running a small business from home, but the medical debt from procedures and treatments keeps piling up. To make things harder, our insurance recently changed, and we are now paying out of pocket for most of her treatments. Each round of chemotherapy costs around $3,000, and the stress of choosing between life-saving treatment and keeping a roof over our heads has been overwhelming.

On top of everything, my mom recently suffered a broken back caused by long-term steroid use, a medication she needs to control the inflammation from her brain tumor. Without the steroids, she would be unable to walk or lift her arm. This has made recovery even more painful and difficult, leaving her with additional medical needs while she continues fighting cancer.

Even small amounts go a long way:
  • $25 can cover her daily pain medication
  • $50 can help with transportation to and from treatment
  • $100+ directly helps pay for her chemotherapy and targeted immunotherapy sessions

Your support will go directly toward:
  • Covering my mom’s medical debt and out-of-pocket treatment costs
  • Helping my parents keep up with rent and essential bills; keeping us housed
  • Giving my mom peace of mind so she can focus fully on healing

My mom is the strongest woman I know. Despite constant pain, a slow recovery from surgery, and now the challenge of healing from a broken back, she still faces every day with courage. Her thoracic surgeon had hoped to remove all the cancer, but because it had spread and attached to her chest wall cavity, they couldn’t get it all, making ongoing treatment absolutely critical.

She is doing her best to stay positive, but recovery has been slow and difficult. She’s only about 75% back to her old self, and it may take months before she feels fully healed. On top of this, she carries the heavy worry of our finances when she should be resting and focusing on beating cancer.

No family is ever truly prepared for the emotional or financial toll of cancer. If you are able, please consider donating to help lighten her burden or even if you are unable, sharing this page means just as much. Every share brings us closer to the support she needs.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for standing with my mom and our family during this fight. ❤️
