Hello my name is Selena. A dear dear friend of mine is currently escaping a domestic violence marriage and is in great need of support. I am not generally one to reach out for help, so this is difficult for me to write. I hope this story can help save someone else and also save lives that may find themselves in a situation like this.

Without going into the very embarrassing details, the criminal case against her husband is currently considered high profile within the county she lives in and is pending with many charges against him including unlawful surveillance at the federal level, battery, sexual assault, harrassment, stalking and child endangerment, etc. In addition to terrorizing her for 10 + years, he made sure to have complete control over every aspect of her life, her vehicle, home and bank account. All communication and her movements were monitored and surveilled. Everything is in her husband name only. Therefore, her leaving this violent and scary situation is in order to save their lives. It has left her and her severely disabled child destitute.

The goal is to raise enough money to purchase her a vehicle. Nothing fancy , just reliable. Also have some money left over for groceries and necessities for them both. So that she may be able to transport her child to school as he is non verbal and unable to ride a bus without cameras on board for his protection. Also, so that she may be able to go to a job in order to provide for her son.

As mentioned earlier, I hope this story helps those that are currently living through their own story of domestic violence. I personally am a survivor of domestic violence. I know how horrible these situations are. 1 in 4 women are victims of severe violence from a partner at some point in their lives. Please read her story and know that this does not have to happen to you. Reach out for help. There are helpers out there waiting to help.
