Help a Single Mom and Daughter Rebuild After Abuse
Donation protected
My name is Steph. I am a survivor of domestic violence. For over eight years, I was a stay-at-home mom raising my daughter while enduring emotional, financial, and coercive control at the hands of my soon-to-be ex-husband, a first responder. When I found the strength to file for divorce, the abuse didn’t stop—it got worse.
My daughter and I have faced emotional abuse, financial abandonment, and legal abuse and more. The man I supported through his career, while putting my own life and dreams on hold has completely walked away from his responsibilities. I sacrificed everything and now I’m left to rebuild from the ground up. The legal system has failed us. Despite clear and overwhelming evidence of his erratic and threatening behavior, including breaking into our home, the courts denied my request for a restraining order. He has used his position and resources to manipulate the system, leaving us vulnerable and unprotected.
Our home is now in the process of foreclosure. I’ve been doing everything I can to provide a sense of safety and stability for my daughter while trying to re-enter the workforce after years as a stay-at-home mom.
Just this week, I was told that what I’ve already paid doesn’t even cover the legal work required for our upcoming case management hearing next week. There’s more work to be done and not enough funds left to cover it. This is a high-conflict, high-risk situation. I am not just fighting for custody I am are fighting for our freedom, for safety, and for peace.
My daughter has already witnessed more than any child should. She is my reason for pushing through the darkest moments, and I’m determined to give her the safe, loving home she deserves.
The funds raised will help cover nothing but the upcoming legal fees because unfortunately the only person who’s getting what they want here is the person who can afford, not the who’s right or wrong.
Domestic violence doesn’t always leave visible scars. Coercive control, financial abuse, and legal abuse are real and devastating. Many women stay because they’re afraid, financially trapped, or completely overwhelmed by a broken system. I’m trying to break free for both of us. If you’ve donated or supported before, thank you from the bottom of my heart. If you’re reading this now, I’m asking humbly for any help you can give. Whether that’s donating, sharing this campaign, or simply sending your love and prayers, it all means more than I can express. Thank you for standing with us. With gratitude, Steph
