Help a Brave Family Recover from House Fire

One of the firefighters that came to save my daughter and her family

Hello. My daughter and her family's home caught fire around 1 am on July 30, 2024. My 7-year-old grandson woke to a smoke-filled room upstairs, where he and his sister have their bedrooms. He made his way downstairs through heavy smoke to wake his parents. When they realized the house was on fire, my daughter ran back upstairs, unable to see, feeling her way to get my granddaughter.
My son-in-law was trying to contain the fire and was badly burned. He was life-flighted to a burn center in Travis County, TX, where he has a 30% burn injury to his body. He has just gone through one surgery to clean and dress his wounds. He has a long road ahead of him, as they all do. My grandson and granddaughter lost everything in the fire, including their school stuff. The home is a total loss. The fire started behind a wall where my grandson's headboard sits. They are all lucky to be alive. Things could have ended worse.
They are displaced as well, staying with family and friends as my daughter will be at the burn unit with her husband. The kids are still in shock, as are the parents. My son-in-law owns a small business, doing carpet and flooring. He will not be able to provide for his family for an undetermined amount of time. We, as a family, want to keep things as normal as can be in the few days leading up to a new school year. Photos and updates will be posted as they come in. Thank you for taking the time to look at the fund me for them.
