I’m reaching out with a heartfelt request on behalf of a remarkable woman I’ve come to know through my work as a bus driver. Her name is Margaret*, and she’s 79 years old, living alone and facing the daily challenges of cancer.

I first met Margaret as she boarded my bus — proud, independent, and always with a kind word despite the visible toll of illness. Over the months, I’ve watched her spirit remain strong even as her body weakens. She doesn’t have many family members around her, and yet she never complains. But I can see how difficult it’s becoming for her to get around on her own.

That’s why I’ve started this fundraiser — to raise enough money to buy Margaret a mobility scooter. Something that would give her a little bit of freedom back: to do her own shopping, get to her appointments, and simply enjoy a bit of independence without constant struggle.

A good quality mobility scooter can cost between £600–£1,200. Every donation, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to giving Margaret the dignity and mobility she deserves.
