We need to relocate as soon as possible due to urgent safety and health concerns, and this move is critical for all three of us to regain stability.

This is not easy for me to ask, but I’m reaching out because my household is in a situation we cannot safely remain in, and we need help to relocate.

All three members of our household are blind, and one of us is a senior. In addition to blindness, there are other serious health challenges in our home, including chronic nerve pain and adrenal insufficiency, a condition in which the body does not produce cortisol. Because of this, prolonged stress is not just emotionally difficult—it is physically dangerous.

Our current rental has become unsafe and unlivable. We have had a broken oven with glass coming out of it for over two months, and repeated repair requests have gone unanswered. Communication with the landlord has become increasingly hostile. I have involved the city inspector due to safety concerns, but it has become clear that this situation is not going to improve.

The stress of the situation has already sent me to the ER once, and I am working closely with my medical team to manage daily nausea and anxiety caused by the ongoing instability. At this point, leaving is the safest option—but doing so requires resources we simply do not have.

Because all three of us are blind, one of us is a senior, and there are additional medical and mobility challenges, we need professional help to pack, move, and unpack our belongings. We have carefully calculated the cost of moving safely and accessibly, including first and last month’s rent and the level of assistance we realistically need, and the total comes to approximately $8,000.

I have tried every option I know, including contacting churches and community organizations, but no funding sources have been available. I am asking for help so that we can move on our own terms—safely, accessibly, and without waiting for the situation to worsen.
